Coding & Design at Casis
Code Kids is a project-based after-school club at Casis Elementary for students in grades 2-5. In this club, students will embark on guided projects that incorporate programming, coding, 2D & 3D graphic design, video game design, immersive virtual worlds, and cultivating digital citizenship skills.
Concepts of Programming
Learning the concepts of programming teaches students to be problem solvers. Students will learn to create algorithms and then convert their algorithms into code.
Coding
Students will learn two types of coding, block-based coding and text-based coding.
2D Graphic Design
Students will dabble in graphic arts when they create original 2D vector and pixel designs for projects.
3D Design
Students will delve into 3D design concepts through hands-on projects. They will create unique designs.
Video Game Design
Students will apply what they learn about coding and graphic arts to design and code original video games.
Minecraft Education Team Challenges
Students will embark on an educational adventure through Minecraft Education Challenges, where they will cultivate essential skills such as teamwork, creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving.
2024-2025 School Year
There will be 4 sessions offered during the school year at Casis, see the start dates below for each session:
Session II:
Mondays – 7 Sessions – 11/4, 11/11, 11/18, 12/2, 12/9, 12/16, 1/13
Wednesdays – 8 Sessions – 10/30, 11/6, 11/13, 11/20, 12/4, 12/11, 12/18, 1/8
Thursdays – 8 Sessions – 11/7, 11/14, 11/21, 12/5, 12/12, 12/19, 1/9, 1/16
Session III:
Session IV:
Students that continue to the next session will build on the skills learned in the previous session.
All classes are taught by Mrs. Wooliver (4th grade teacher at Casis).
Weekly Classes
Coding classes will be offered 3 days a week and will meet in room A252 (4th grade wing). Students come straight to club after school and have a snack.
Mondays – Open to 2nd and 3rd graders
Wednesdays – Open to 4th and 5th graders
Thursdays – Open to 4th and 5th graders

You can pay with a check or Venmo.
What to Bring
– Chromebook from their classroom

Dismissal
Students will be walked to the front of the school at 4:20pm. Walkers, bikers and Extend-A-Care will be dismissed immediately and car riders can be picked up in the front circle drive in front of the office.
