Coding & Design at Casis
Code Kids is a project-based after-school club at Casis Elementary for students in grades 2–5. In this club, students will embark on guided projects that incorporate programming, coding, AI-powered design, 2D & 3D graphic design, video production and storytelling, video game creation, immersive virtual worlds, and the cultivation of digital citizenship skills.
Programming & Coding
Students will develop problem-solving skills as they learn core programming concepts, create algorithms, and translate those algorithms into code. They will work with both block-based and text-based coding to bring their ideas to life in a variety of creative applications.
AI Design & Creation
Students will explore the world of artificial intelligence to design original graphics, edit images, and experiment with creative tools that bring their ideas to life. They will discover how AI can support brainstorming, enhance creativity, and turn concepts into polished designs.
2D & 3D Design
Students will explore both 2D and 3D design through hands-on creative projects. They will create original vector and pixel artwork as well as unique three-dimensional designs, developing skills that blend artistry with technology.
Video Production & Storytelling
Students will plan, film, and edit their own videos while learning the art of visual storytelling. They will use professional tools to add effects, transitions, and music, producing engaging videos that entertain, inform, and inspire.
Video Game Design
Students will apply what they learn about coding and graphic arts to design and code original video games.
2025-2026 School Year
Coding classes will be offered 3 days a week and will meet in room A252 (4th grade wing). Students come straight to club after school and have a snack.
Mondays – Open to 2nd and 3rd graders
Wednesdays – Open to 3rd, 4th and 5th graders
Thursdays – Open to 3rd, 4th and 5th graders
There will be 4 sessions offered during the school year at Casis, see the start dates below for each session:
Session II:
Mondays – 7 Sessions: 11/17, 12/1, 12/8, 12/15, 1/12, 1/26, 2/2
Wednesdays – 8 Sessions: 10/29, 11/5, 11/12, 11/19, 12/3, 12/10, 12/17, 1/7
Thursdays – 8 Sessions: 10/30, 11/6, 11/13, 11/20, 12/4, 12/11, 12/18, 1/8
Session III:
Mondays – 7 Sessions: 2/9, 2/23, 3/2, 3/9, 3/23, 3/30, 4/13
Wednesdays – 8 Sessions: 1/14, 1/21, 1/28, 2/4, 2/11, 2/18, 2/25, 3/4
Thursdays – 8 Sessions: 1/15, 1/22, 1/29, 2/5, 2/12, 2/19, 2/26, 3/5
Students that continue to the next session will build on the skills learned in the previous session.
All classes are taught by Mrs. Wooliver (4th grade teacher at Casis).

What to Bring
– Chromebook from their classroom (provided for 2nd Graders)

Dismissal
Students will be walked to the front of the school at 4:20pm. Walkers, bikers and Extend-A-Care will be dismissed immediately and car riders can be picked up in the front circle drive in front of the office.
